What are Solid Surfaces materials?

They are exclusive materials made for two thirds with aluminum hydroxide and one third with acrylic resin and natural coloring pigments. The aluminum hydroxide gives the product excellent mechanical resistance while the acrylic resin guarantees hygiene, impermeability and color stability over time. Despite their stone-like texture, they are restorable and easy to process with woodworking equipment. They can be joined imperceptibly and a simple thermoforming process allows to create curved surfaces, leaving free space for the designers' imagination. With these extraordinary materials, it is possible to carry out projects of all kinds:

  • Living: Bathroom furniture, sinks, shower trays, bathtubs, vertical coverings and floors, kitchen tops, sinks, tables, bookcases and furnishing accessories ...

  • Design: Furnishing accessories, tables, bookcases, lighting and light design, art, temporary and permanent installations ...

  • Contract: Bars and restaurants, offices, hotels, reception areas, shopping centers, shop fitting and shop fitting in general, ventilated facades, areas with high fire resistance ...

  • Applications in the public sector: Institutional buildings, Airports and stations, Museums and exhibition areas, urban furniture, Schools ...

  • Applications in the medical sector: laboratories, hospitals, coatings for operating and pre-operative theaters, surgical hand washing areas, worktops, tubs, antibacterial vertical coatings for common areas, medical and dental offices ...

  • Naval furniture

The applications are truly endless.

What can you do with Solid Surfaces?

Solid Surfaces are extraordinary materials, workable and thermoformable in any shape and size. In AREA C we are specialized in the processing of CORIAN® and all SOLID SUFACES materials, such as BETACRYL®, HIMACS®, KRION®, STARON®.

CORIAN®

Corian® is the original solid surface material invented by DuPont ™. It is an innovative and surprising material, solid and compact, non-porous, which can be worked and molded into any shape. A pool of unique features make Corian® an excellent material for solutions ranging from furniture to interior and exterior design, with a virtually endless range of applications. Stain resistant and easy to clean, it is durable and renewable: DuPont ™ Corian® can in fact be removed, reworked and even reinstalled (for example on a new kitchen).

BETACRYL®

Betacryl® is an exclusive material made of two thirds with aluminum hydroxide and one third with acrylic resin and natural coloring pigments. The aluminum hydroxide gives the product excellent mechanical resistance while the acrylic resin guarantees hygiene, impermeability and color stability over time. Despite the stone-like consistency it is restorable and easy to transform with woodworking equipment. It can be joined in an imperceptible way, and a simple thermoforming process allows to create curved surfaces, leaving free space for the designers' imagination. The strength of Betacryl is the wide range of printed products such as sinks, washbasins, also freestanding, and bathtubs available in different colors.

STARON®

The products made with the Staron® solid surface consist partly of solid sheets and partly of mineral fillers, free of styrene and bonded with acrylic. The material consists of one third of acrylic resin (PMMA) and two thirds of the natural mineral of aluminum hydroxide (ATH), which is extracted from bauxite. The result of the processing is a hard, smooth, seamless and non-porous surface. To meet the different needs of taste, design, chromatic harmony and numerous fields of application, STARON® slabs are made in over 140 unique colors and different thicknesses. The high transformation flexibility of STARON® sheets, combined with the thermoplastic characteristics and the possibility of practically invisible bonding, allow private and commercial applications in the architecture of interiors and multi-storey buildings.

HIMACS®

Hi-macs® is a material subjected to a particular advanced heat treatment that gives rise to a new compound, more resistant and free from structural defects. It can be worked in any shape while maintaining maximum visual uniformity, giving life to large spaces without visible joints, where for example sinks and trays can be placed on the surface. The wide range of shapes that can be obtained allows designers wide creative possibilities in different applications. HI-MACS® is renewable and ecological: it respects the environment thanks to the use of sustainable materials, environmentally friendly production processes and recycling at the end of its life cycle.

KRION®

Krion® is a material that is warm to the touch and similar to natural stone: it is composed of two thirds of natural minerals (ATH: aluminum trihydrate) and a small percentage of highly resistant resins. Its composition gives it some exclusive features: absence of pores, antibacterial properties without any kind of additive, hardness, resistance, durability, reduced maintenance, as well as easy repair and cleaning. Krion® sheets can be cut, joined or thermoformed to obtain curved pieces. Krion® Solid Surface can also be injected with other materials, to give life to unique shapes and projects. It is available in a wide range of colors among which the white, pure and neutral finish stands out. It is also an ecological material, which can be 100% recycled: all products made of Krion® can be reworked and reused in the production cycle

SURFACE MAINTENANCE

How are Solid Surfaces cleaned?

Solid Surfaces are non-porous materials, therefore they do not absorb: each stain is only superficial. For daily cleaning, treat with a cloth, water and normal household detergent. In the case of stubborn stains, use a universal degreaser and let it act for at least 30 seconds, clean the surface with a damp sponge and then rinse thoroughly with water and a microfibre cloth. For limescale stains, use white vinegar or an anti-limescale product, then rinse thoroughly. In the case of persistent stains, use a solution of pure bleach diluted in water, then clean with a sponge and rinse thoroughly with warm water and a microfiber cloth.
